The University of Texas at San Antonio serves the San Antonio metropolitan area and South Texas through programs and services accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. UTSA has over 32,000 students enrolled in more than 150 bachelor's, master's and doctoral degree programs.In 2009, UTSA was recognized as one of the state’s emerging research universities, the first step in becoming Tier One in Texas. Tier One universities are known for outstanding research, quality education and generating major economic contributions to the region.UTSA is well on its way to achieving Tier One status.
